Animal Prints

I read that in fashion world if there is one perennial pattern to own, it's animal print. From time to time it becomes trendy, as in last spring, or as this and this, which AT added it for the fall items. I always thought wearing animal prints could either be chic and tasteful, or just produce an fashion nightmare. Kind of a dangerous game. Therefore it was not on my list for a daily outfit until I saw this skirt from BR. I 'm very much fond of the brown zebra strips blending with a touch of yellow, as well as the linen fabric. You can also be creative with the belt, front, side, back; bow tie, simple knot... , it just can be so versatile. Oh, did I mention it has pockets too?
Here are a few tips I learned for wearing animal prints:
•Keep your silhouette simple, elegant and sleek. To keep things tasteful, limit the print to one item at a time.
•You are not a lion; don't wear a wild mane. Save big hair for less courageous fashions.
•If your fashion sense is a bit too tame to tackle large blocks of animal print, play it safe and look for animal patterns in smaller items or accessories.
Do you own any animal print? How do you like to wear it?
Have a great weekend!

Blue on Blue - LOFT Jacquard Skirt

Wanted to show this skirt a while ago. But haven't got chance to do any post recently. I have been trying to settle the work and life for weeks, working for the deadlines during the weekdays and being the tour guide, shopping guide,.. for visiting friends, friends' friends, during the weekends. Oh well, easily, the blog was put on the back burner.
Many of you probably already saw this skirt from Alterations Needed. Navy blue is always one of "my color". I specially like the very unique quilted pattern with the shimmery finish. The elastic waistband also makes it a cute look with the classic tone. I ordered it online for sz 00 since petite size is too short for me from the store. I wasn't quite sure if it was long enough for work. But I did get so many compliments from my colleagues.

The shine is soft even under the sun.

The  little balloon style at the front differentiate it from the regular pencil, or A-line.

Is it short for work?

Summer Work Outfit - AnnTaylor Ruffle Sheath Dress

Inspired by ExtraPetite work outfit posting, I want to share a few more style I usually  have at work.
Noticed this dress from Alterations Needed 's AnnTaylor Petite review . I like the cut of the scoop neck  and the ruffle at the bust area, flattering enough but not overwhelmed. When I see this turquoise green color at the store, I knew I just couldn't let it go. :) Well, For dress I usually have to go with regular size. But store never carry sz00 (why is that? ) so this is sz 0. A little baggy at  top, a totally different outcome of Ann Taylor's web picture. But a belt always helps and it seems to fit better at our casual and easy work place.
A hot weekend is in front of us again, Stay cool and enjoy!

Summer Work Outfit - LOFT Pencil Skirt

When talking about work outfit for women, first thing popping up probably always is, pencil skirt plus a button up or button down. I appreciate well dressed up atmosphere. However, working in a corporate with casual dress code, I can always mix it with some easy casual piece like what I had at work today with no brainer.
About the LOFT pencil skirt, I like it right away first time I saw it at store.  ExtraPetite did a fitting room review. What I wore is sz Petite 00. I feel it's a little short to me. I wish I could find sz 00 in store. The waist of this line of the skirts runs a little bigger and it's still a little loose at my waist with P00.  So you might want one size down for it.

The Rush Weekend!

The weekend was hectic. My darling Chelsea finally came home from her trip to China. We have been running across the city and suburb most of the day for errands, for her music lesson while we enjoyed the summer sunshine.

The silky soft loose top made the hot summer day very comfy.

Have no idea about soccer game but like the festival atmosphere.

The strappy sandal is soft enough and didn't bother me for walking a long distance with the high heel.

Phew, the last stop, my car! Big thanks to my new photographer of the day!

Esprit Shorts

It's always a difficult thing for me to find a pair of shorts or pants that could fit my waist. Usually I have to go with Petite 0, even my height (5'4'') probably is on the boundary of petite and regular world. I like the Armani Exchange shorts Alterations Needed introduced but it was out of size Petite 0. Surprisingly I found this one from Esprit outlet store, The low cut design fits me well even with size 0. I guess the brand runs smaller size because it's Hong Kong based company. Isn't it perfect for a beautiful hot summer day!

Happy 4th of July!

July 4th is my favorite holiday here. Watching the fireworks on the beach with live music, hmmm, what could you expect more? I didn't have the red/white/blue from the beach photos. But reminded by my friend Vicky on Friday, I did take a couple of shots after work for the holiday spirit. I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday.
